Foundation Sticks or Liquid Foundations?
A huge debate ensues within the
makeup community when it comes to foundation. Are foundation sticks or liquid
foundation better? As for everything I’ve said before… it all depends on one’s
preference and their skin type.
Foundation sticks are much more
easy to apply, travel-friendly, and ideal for small touchups throughout the
day. An important thing to note is their easy application process, the secret
behind it is their cream-based formula which makes it smooth and easy to apply.
This cream-based formula is easy to build on and works really great for people
who are more on the normal to oily skin type. Some downsides to the stick formula
is their appearance of heavy and/or cakey makeup look if its layered on too much.
People who have dry or textured skin notice that the cream-based foundation
sticks tend to accentuate fine lines. Another downside to foundation sticks is
the limited range for shade ranges, this brings a lot of controversy on how not
inclusive they can appear. I myself have tried to find a good match for
foundation sticks and have struggled trying to find a decent shade match for
me. Either its too light or too dark, and for me they tend to be more
warm-toned which isn’t favorable for me who falls right in between warm and cool
(I am a neutral girly).
Liquid foundation tends to be more
inclusive and are more known in the beauty community. They are more versatile
and have different finishes such as matte and dewy, its easy to work with other
products such as powders, primers, and setting sprays. They are great to deal
with different skin types ranging from dry to dewy and whatever falls in
between. Liquid foundation is more favorable in terms of shade range
availability. Liquid also involves more steps to be able to apply it, this
includes brushes and sponges.
Overall, if you prefer or value
convenience and easy application then sticks may just be ideal for you. But if
you prefer hydration and flexibility then your best bet is liquid foundation.
